At a glance

  • We collect what we need to run your account, gameplay, and tournaments — and to keep the game fair.
  • We do not sell or “share” your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Non-essential cookies (e.g. social sign-in) load only after you opt in — manage them any time via Cookie Settings.
  • You can access, correct, export, or delete your data, and withdraw consent, at any time.

This Privacy Policy explains how WordBlitz ⚡ ("WordBlitz ⚡", "WordBlitz", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, solo and tournament gameplay, leaderboards, and related services (the "Service"). It should be read together with our Terms of Service and Cookie Policy.

Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK)

If you are in the EEA or UK, we rely on the following legal bases under Article 6 GDPR:

Purpose Legal basis
Creating your account and providing the Service (gameplay, tournaments, leaderboards) Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b))
Security, anti-cheat, fraud prevention, and service improvement Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f))
Non-essential cookies, social sign-in, and marketing emails Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — you can withdraw it at any time
Meeting legal, tax, and regulatory obligations Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c))

Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality (such as keeping you logged in and protecting forms), and — only with your consent — for third-party features like social sign-in. We do not set non-essential cookies before you opt in. Full details and controls are in our Cookie Policy, and you can change your choices any time via Cookie Settings.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information to:

  • Service providers / processors who help us operate the Service (hosting, email delivery, and similar), under contracts that require confidentiality and appropriate data protection.
  • Identity providers (Google, Facebook) when you choose to sign in with them — see our Cookie Policy.
  • Other players, in the form of information you choose to make public — your display name, avatar, leaderboard rank, and tournament results are visible to other users by the nature of the Service.
  • Legal & safety recipients, where required to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, property, or safety of WordBlitz, our players, or others.
  • Business transfers, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale — we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Data Retention

We retain account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Typical periods: account data until deletion plus up to [X months]; server/security logs up to [X months]. You can request deletion at any time (see Your Rights & Choices); some aggregated or anonymized statistics that no longer identify you may be retained.

Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a portable copy.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information (most fields can be edited in your account settings).
  • Delete your account and personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on it (e.g. marketing, non-essential cookies).

To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@wordblitz.net. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You will not be treated differently for exercising your rights.

EEA & UK Privacy Rights

If you are in the EEA or UK, in addition to the rights above you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (for example, your national Data Protection Authority, or the UK Information Commissioner's Office). We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first — please contact us at privacy@wordblitz.net.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the CCPA (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and limit the use of sensitive personal information.

  • We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require a “Limit the Use” option.
  • In the past 12 months we have collected the categories described in Information We Collect (identifiers, internet/network activity, and approximate geolocation) for the purposes in How We Use Your Information.
  • You may exercise your rights, including through an authorized agent, by contacting privacy@wordblitz.net. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including password hashing, access controls, and encrypted connections (HTTPS) — to help protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Data Transfers

We may process and store your information in countries other than the one you live in, including outside the EEA/UK. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we use appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum) — so that it continues to receive an adequate level of protection.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service or by email.
